Our Proficiencies
At Vantage, we understand the critical role that cybersecurity practices play in the success of federal public U.S. Space Program missions, from formulation to on-orbit operations and beyond.
Compliance and Security Assurance: Our commitment to compliance with NIST, NASA Procedural Requirements (NPR) 7150.2, other Federal Agency System Protection requirements, and relevant process assets is unwavering. We adhere to these procedural requirements and guidance, benchmarked against the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for Development and equivalent leading practices. With our expertise, you can trust that all in-house products provided to U.S. Space Program missions and programmatic oversight for external missions are developed, maintained, and acquired with the highest quality standards in mind.
End-to-End Security: Security is paramount in the realm of space missions, and we take it seriously. Our teams are equipped to protect and safeguard public space program assets, equipment, classified information/materials, and sensitive technological information. We adhere to NIST, NASA, Department of Defense (DoD), and Federal regulations, ensuring the highest levels of security clearance when required, including personnel with TOP SECRET clearance.
Computer Security and System Administration Excellence: Our expertise in computer security and system administration is unparalleled. On our Software and Services (SES) III Contract with NASA, we offer specialized support across multiple divisions within the Engineering and Technology Directorate (ETD). Key features of our capabilities include:
- IT Technical Support: We provide both Information Technology (IT) technical and cybersecurity protection support to federal facilities and end-user devices, aligning with NIST, NASA, NOAA, and DoD policies and best practices.
- Information System Security Officers (ISSO): Our team of ISSOs leads the development, maintenance, and operation of system security plans, supports policy development, and keeps up with evolving IT security issues and mitigation processes.
- Systems Administration Cyber Security: We employ System Administrators with a strong command of diverse operating systems, problem-solving skills, and the ability to analyze, optimize, and protect systems.
Continuity of Operations (COOP) Support: Ensuring Mission Resilience: Our core capability in Continuity of Operations (COOP) support ensures that mission-critical functions remain uninterrupted, even in the face of unforeseen challenges. With expertise aligned with the requirements set forth in National Security Presidential Directive-51/Homeland Security Presidential Directive-20 (NSPD-51/HSPD-20) and the National Continuity Policy Implementation Plan (NCPIP), we provide comprehensive COOP solutions tailored to NASA, NOAA, and DoD’s unique needs.
- Consultation and Planning for Mission Essential Functions – Our COOP support begins with strategic consultation and planning for Mission Essential Functions (MEF). We collaborate closely with your organization to identify key functions that must continue, no matter the circumstances. Through meticulous analysis and planning, we ensure that your operations remain resilient, responsive, and effective in any scenario.
- Application Development and Logistics Support: Our COOP support includes the development of applications that streamline COOP processes, ensuring swift communication, coordination, and decision-making during critical situations. Additionally, we provide logistics support to ensure that essential resources are readily available, enabling your teams to maintain operations seamlessly.
- Testing and Training for Alternate Operation Facilities (AOF): An integral aspect of COOP readiness is the testing and training of Alternate Operation Facilities (AOF). Our experts collaborate with your teams to design and execute comprehensive testing exercises that evaluate the functionality and readiness of AOF systems and sites. Through realistic training scenarios, we ensure that your personnel are prepared to seamlessly transition to alternate facilities when needed.
- Compliance with National Directives and Policies: We understand the gravity of adhering to National Security Presidential Directive-51/Homeland Security Presidential Directive-20 (NSPD-51/HSPD-20) and the National Continuity Policy Implementation Plan (NCPIP). Our COOP solutions are designed to meet and exceed the standards outlined in these directives, ensuring that your organization remains compliant and prepared.
Our Work
Vantage: Empowering Success through Cyber Security Expertise on the NASA GESS-3 Contract
As a key player in NASA’s sweeping IT support for the Glenn Research Center (GRC), our contributions have secured GRC’s Research and Engineering Directorate. Our achievements span compliance, security assurance, end-to-end security, computer security, systems administration, ISSO, and COOP domains.

Navigating Complexity:
As guardians of GRC’s IT Security, a unique challenge emerged when merging the Engineering and Research directorates. Our solution involved merging security plans, establishing the Research and Engineering Code L Burn-in Lab, and optimizing system installation, encryption, patching, and configuration processes. We also fortified security configurations and encryption for laptops in the Spacecraft Fire Safety Demonstration (SFSD) Project’s flight testing.

Key Achievements and Strategies when Safeguarding Mission-Critical Data:
In a critical moment of an unplanned Data Center power outage, Vantage’s resilience was evident. Swiftly, we restored the Research and Engineering application, data, and computer production environment, saving the work of over 700 users and 1.2 terabytes of data. This 18-hour restoration showcased our dedication to mission-critical operations.
Vantage’s commitment to Continuity of Operations (COOP) is unwavering. We played a crucial role in IT Security documentation development, aligning with HSPD-12 and other pivotal mandates. In collaboration with GRC’s Code D/Engineering Directorate Computer Security Official, we ensured top-tier COOP strategy implementation.

Turning Challenges into Innovations through our Vantage Approach:
Vantage unified security plans from the Engineering and Research directorates, fostering consolidated security practices aligned with the new combined directorate’s vision. The establishment of the Research and Engineering Code L Burn-in Lab stands as a testament to our commitment to innovation. It meticulously documents system processes, ensuring strict adherence to IT Security requirements. Our pivotal role in the SFSD Project has redefined flight-testing security standards. By enhancing security configurations, encryption protocols, and software builds for laptops, we’ve bolstered critical operations to an unprecedented degree.
